My try at masculine jewelry

Why do I get the feeling that this technique could backfire if not done with total finesse?

[re harvesting porcupine quills with styrofoam]

Well, porcupines aren't terribly fast-moving, nor are they particularly aggressive -- you wouldn't need to be aggressive either, if you had that good a defense mechanism! And they really can't "throw" their quills; that's a myth. So as long as the harvester exercised reasonable caution and used a long enough piece to "collect" from a few feet away, it *should* work. Ol' Porky is probably going to be waddling away from you as fast as he can go, so you take a swipe or two and then back off and let him go his way.

I know they can't project quills. I was imagining him -backing into- his attacker. But you're right, he'd probably just head for the hills at a gallumphing gallop. Having enough space between you and him would be the essence of immunity.

Yeah, but less mean than killing them.

Say, Kandice, this is sort of beside the point, but are you planning to sign your beads, and if yes, are you using your initials? I vaguely remember this converstation taking place before, but... I have a crappy memory. I was thinking about this because of the letter-cane thread on WetCanvas.

I'm pondering whether to use my whole first name, but that's a LOT of canes...

If you've thought about it, just let me know what you've decided to use, and if it's KS, I'll choose something else!
