Need help with bead sizes

Oct 27, 2003 3 Replies

Hi all, I'm working on updating my bead design program, and want to add more sizes of beads. Presently I have measurements for Delicas, as well as 11/0 and

15/0 seed beads. I've gotten many requests for to incorporate other sizes, such as 13/0 and 8/0. But those who ask haven't provided me with good info to do so, and no beaders in my neck of the woods work in other sizes. With so many helpful people here in rcb, I hope I can get some accurate measurements to fill in the missing sizes.

So, to anyone who does beadweaving (loom, peyote, brick, square stitches) in any size other than Delicas and 11/0, I ask for measurement info. The easiest way would be to send me a scan of a piece of work, a couple inches in each direction, with a ruler in the picture and identify the type/size of bead. The larger the bead size, the larger the sample should be to ensure I can get a good count of beads (and fractional beads) to the inch. What I hope to get is single bead dimensions out to the third or fourth decimal place.

You can email to the address below, remove the NOSPAM.

Wow, Val... that's quite an undertaking! I have a few loomed pieces lying around, but I'm pretty sure I used a size 12 bead when I made them. I'll check and if that would help you, I'll send you a jpg. Good luck with your new project! :)

Linda, I look forward to getting your picture. All input helps me get it right, so you beaders can do your designing with confidence in the tool.

You're welcome, Val. :) I'm off to Wisconsin for a few days, but when I get back I'll get it out to take pics and send to you. :)
