OT-12 hours in LA

I guess this is off topic- I have about 12 hours to spend in LA on my way home from Bead and Button. Suggestions as to what is feasible most welcome. I will land at the Domestic airport.

I could stay at the airport and check my bags as soon as they allow but doubt they will take them hours before the flight.I do not want to spend hours guarding bags.

I could check in for the day to a day hotel- somewhere to store my bags laden with goodies from B/B- in which case where is the nearest hotel and can I get there by taxi/shuttle/bus?

This would mean a place to set out and explore from for a few hours- am considering Warner Brothers Studio but I need local help. How far is it from the airport?

I have 6 hours going to Milwaukee at LA but will stay at the airport.

One week to go, cheers, Jan

Jan,

There are tons of hotels with free shuttle service near LAX. I'd recommend using Priceline.com to secure a nice room on the cheap. A hot shower and a nap will do wonders for you before the next flight. As far as going to Warner, I can't help with that.

Looking forward to seeing you next week!

Jan - if you are coming IN via airline - you do NOT have to pick up your bags - and re-check them - they will move automatically to the next airline... even with the 12 hour layover..... I suggest you check to see if you can grab a shuttle to a hotel nearby whatever place you want most to visit - ... then from there take a cab to wherever you want to go .

perhaps one of the beadlist people is in the area and could meet you for a little fun.... unfortunately - I'm in Ohio.... LOL

Jan,

if you go the other way (international to domestic) you have to pick up your baggage and clear immigration and customs, but I don't think you have to do anything like that on your way out.

For some reason I end up going through LAX on my way into the US a lot more often than on my way out (talking about a trip maybe every other year, I'm not that frequent a traveller, and it ain't for fun either)
