it was about 2/3 of the way between SF and LA - on the LA end. i'm fine. rolled the Bay Area a bit, but no problems there, it seems.

the seismology sites are weird, with the aftershocks, tho - the after shocks are moving south.

I felt it this morning while checking rcb ;o) It felt like my office chair was swaying back and forth, but I couldn't really tell....it kinda felt like I was lightheaded, and my equilibrium was trying to catch up. I kept waiting for a BIG shake, but it was just swaying......Then, my gramma, up in Oregon, called to make sure we were ok; told us there was a 6.5!

DH's dad lives next-door to the epicenter, in Paso Robles. It took us half hour to get through to him ("All circuits are busy"), but he was fine. The roof caved in at his work, but no injuries.

We also found out that DH's brother was deployed to Iraq a couple months ago, and they have no estimate of when they will bring him home. Nice of them to call US, wasn't it? :-\

Hope everyone else is ok!! :o)

i'm so glad he wasn't there when the roof caved in! that's what CNN has been concentrating on.

i'll add him to my prayers, dear.

Melinda -- glad you asked. The main damage was in Paso Robles, which is about an hour north of Kaytee's ranch house, where i am moving in less than 6 weeks. Hoping the same thing myself. Kyla -- I keep seeing the ads that some anti-Bush organization is running about bush wanting to spend 87million more over there, and it just makes my blood boil. It is time for this to be over.

The first thing I did when I saw the report (on AOL tonight, when I signed on) was email you. Since Buster is living in the house he would know! Glad to know it is OK since I am hoping to live there soon! Even gladder to know HE is OK. I will go unsend the email.

Kyla -- I am going to be living in Kaytee's ranch house which is about 1-1/2 hours south of Paso Robles. Inland a bit, closer to Santa Margarita.

Neat! That's only about 3 hours north of me :o) We'll have to get together some time! I have a lot of jewelry designer friends (as one, Cecelia, put it, "Everyone in Los Angeles is a jewelry designer!";o).

Cecelia and I are planning a casual beading party for sometime soon. Maybe youc an make it down? When will you be moving?

I'm glad everyone is fine there. It's the shallow ones you have to look out for. How deep was this one? 6.5 is quite big.. I have been working too hard to catch up on any news, so was a bit surprised when I saw it here. In NZ we live on a faultline too so know what it is like.

All the best Mavis
