OT: Farewell to Butterbean

Nov 06, 2007 20 Replies

I know Butterbean had many fans here, so I wanted to share her farewell. She'd been in declining health for some time, but had a good appetite right up until the end. She ate a good breakfast yesterday, and then my DD took her out to much on some grass yesterday afternoon. She died sometime during the night. She was 6 yrs. and 4 months, the longest lived pig I've had.

It's nice to know the Bean Queen brought more smiles to people in her short life, than some people I know! She was very patient with the costumes and photo sessions.

One last picture of her to share:

If you want to see more photos of her, she has her own page on my website.

Dear Jerri, Such sad news even though it was expected. I feel for you, knowing what the loss of a beloved pet can be. Sending you big loving hugs. Shirley

Oh, Jerri, I'm so sorry. Butterbean was so lucky to have had you as a "mom". I'll miss her.

Hugs, hugs, hugs.

I am so sorry to hear about her passing. She captured my heart, for sure. I loved the costumes you put her in as well. She must have been so much fun for you (and vice versa).....

Hugs from the Great White North......Heather.

Awww, Jerri, I'm so sorry to hear this. Even when it's expected, it's never easy. She was so fortunate to have you, and we were fortunate that you shared her with all of us. She will certainly be missed. Hugs,

Dear Jerri,

Word of Butterbean's passing reached me just a few moments ago. I was so very, very sorry to get the news :-(

John and I have always loved reading about her adventures and seeing her photos. Butterbean has many fans at the Toledo Museum, too: You could walk the halls, peeking into offices and catch a glimpse of Her Royal Bean-ness here and there over the past several years.

We send our condolences, and we grieve with you.

We lost Quimby a couple of months ago. He was 31. My heart is still broken in a million pieces.

Hugs,

Tink

I never thought I'd shed a tear over a guinea pig.

I'll miss her. Even my husband, Pete, will miss her. And I'm very sorry for your loss. Our loss, too; indeed she did bring many smiles to many people.

Hugs,

Tina

I am so very sorry to hear that, she was a bright spot in my life too. Thank you very much for sharing her with the rest of us!

Ingrid

Thanks to all of your for comments on Butterbean. It's nice to know that so many will miss her and think of her fondly.

She had a good life. I don't think she had any complaints. She was always treated like the queen that she was. Other than a little attention, the only thing she asked for (or maybe demanded!) was her fresh fruit and vegies everyday, and she never did without!

Thanks again,

Oh Jerri...I remember when you got her...! Sending you hugs.

My favorite posts were of Butterbean in her sassy outfits. Sorry to hear that the little ball of fur has gone to romp in the flower beds of heaven.

that is so sad. She was kinda part of the family (not just yours, I mean the extended r.c.b. family as well).

Jerri and family, I'm so sorry to hear about Butterbean. I've shared her great costume pictures with many friends. Here's to Butterbean - the last of the great pig divas!!! I shall put on a large picture hat and drink a toast to her tonight.
