OT: Sigh - Brother vs. Sister

Thanks Marissa. I did get my mind off it all helping some friends move. I couldn't do too much because of the pain today but I did as much as I could. It helped to be away from the phone for a while.

Starlia,

You gaining guardianship sounds like the most ideal solution to me. Dear God, I can't believe your brother still has guardianship of her! I'm glad you are older than him and can give him stick. It's the least I'd be giving him!! The potential fallout for Amber is huge and almost doesn't bear thinking about. He will be doing (almost permanent) psychological damage and emotional damage to her and it should be stopped as soon as possible, so that she can start on the road to recovery.

Your post just left me gobsmacked! Really, and truly, I am sorry you are dealing with this kind of thing. I have myself been through some counselling and have done counselling courses, and I shudder!

Hugs,

Mavis

I didn't get to speak with the case worker today but the person I spoke to said she would be back tomorrow. I just hope to give Amber a steady home until Zonn can pull himself together and get help.

I didn't even tell you what his house was like. It's an older mobile home. (I don't have a thing against mobile homes but you will understand why I told you.) When Zonn and the Troll moved out to the property by Granny's house Zonn was going to have a well dug for water and sewage tank installed. That was over 7 years ago and that has yet to be done. The sewage goes directly from the house onto the yard below the bathroom. He just now (in the last two weeks) have running water installed.

When the Troll was there she had a poodle. Troll and Zonn did not notice that the poodle went to the bathroom all over the house. Even though it was an inch thick or more in the bathroom at times. I refused to let Amber go out there one evening after going into the trailer. I told him to get his shit together and get it cleaned up or Amber was going to Austin with me. He didn't believe me and I took her away for a day. My GF knew I didn't take her to Austin but he called to let me know Zonn was cleaning.

There are holes in the floor of the trailer. Like if you missed your step your leg would be hitting dirt and it would probably be broken. Chickens, goats, and other critters have been known to use the house on frequent occasions.

I appear to be the only person in the family Zonn listens to. He knows if I tell him something or threaten that I will follow through. He also knows he can't step over the line with me or I'll knock the crap out of him. Had he manhandled me like he did Sissy he would be very sorry now.

So you guys have an inkling what it is like for Amber. I don't know how they feed her in that nasty mess. I would fear getting some awful disease.

Shit. I was torn up worrying about her and now I'm about to cry for her. Please let this work out so you can take that little girl to a real home.

I am so grateful to have DH say that she needs a loving home and she would have one with us. I didn't have to ask he volunteered. I should give him more hugs and brownies every day.

Dear god. There is something really, seriously wrong with Zonn if he can live like that. I am praying that you get Amber away from there!
