OT: Taking the Flylady plunge

Ok, I have WAY too much going on in my life that is NOT making me happy. I want more time and focus and energy for the stuff I DO want.

I'm signing back on to the FlyLady routine, and I vow, before all my beady buds, that the following will be impacted:

  1. Household clutter.
  2. My Weight.
  3. My time management.
  4. My Daughter's Role Model (me, I'll be a better one!)

Wish me luck and that I don't throw the computer out the window when the flylady messages start coming fast and furious! LOL

From yer mouth to God's ear, girlfriend. I realize that I'm just not goshdarn expecting enough of myself. I have every resource necessary to be exceedingly happy and productive in this life, and I'm squandering the opportunity.

Crap, I hate it when you sneak little gems of wisdom into seemingly innocent posts. Now I have to go contemplate what you just said, and think over the ways it applies to me, too. Sheesh. And here I was, all set to sit back and do mindless stuff for the rest of the day. LOL!

ROFL...Candace, you cracked me up!!

Mostly I'm selfish finally, wanting to have it all, do it all...take the time to focus on myself, and in the course of doing so, my family will also benefit, because my goals are conducive to a good family life too!

My biggest hang-up (well, besides the problem of being somewhat of a compulsive overeater, as a stress/anxiety reaction) is being a procrastinating perfectionist. My dh is a pro-active perfectionist, who tolerates my ways because he loves me that much.

I find that I spend hours avoiding starting something if I don't think I can do it perfectly, or if the conditions aren't all perfect, or if ...blah, blah, blah.

ROFL...ok, I'll get out of your head now. I'm sure you have your OWN crap to deal with, because we all do!

Good luck! I take what I need and leave the rest, basically. Like that wear you shoes thing. Uh, nooooo, this is the land of sandals, TYVM, I don't lace or buckle NOTHING onto my feet! But other than that, a lot of the routines help me (and the kids) a bunch.

I have her bookmarked...for about two years now, LOL! Whenever I get to where I feel so damn overwhelmed, I spend an hour or two procrastinating on her site, and I feel so much better! Now I need to go clean my bathroom.

I'm good at dressing and shoe-ing, because I have a back that requires me to be shod in my New Balances every day not to hurt. My main concentration is on getting a daily routine and in DECLUTTERING this damn house!!!

I want more time and space and freedom from the opression of STUFF.

I, like Karen take what I can use and leave the rest. Flylady really does help! I have decluttered over 60 lbs of stuff from my apartment (which is 5 rooms and a short hallway to the bathroom with mostly small rooms). Don't feel overwhelmed by the emails. I don't follow her routines to the letter, but what I do do, is to make myself a daily "TO DO" list. It helps ALOT!!! When I do that, it makes me feel so much better, because I can look and see that I actually got something done today! My house isn't spotless, but it looks SO much better than it did 3 years ago before I heard of Flylady!

Good Luck on your journey into the world of Flylady!

OMG. I signed up last nite. I have been getting the emails one right after another. I have done a ton of stuff today. First time in a long long while. One message today was on our front door. Good God! I didn't know how dirty my actual front door was. Whew!!!!!!!

Good luck.

When you figure out how to do yours, will you come do mine?

I've been in this house since 1986. I'm sure I have stuff that I moved in with, plus an accumulation of the last 18 years including my newest hobby, BEADS.

Cant see my dining room table and my bedroom has a lot less floor space than it used to. I do manage to keep the family room and kitchen useable, but not neat.

Help.
