OT: The truth about Leptoprin

Hi Beady Buddies, This has nothing to do with beads, but I wanted to share this info with you. I know that you've all heard the Leptoprin commercials on TV ad nauseum, and maybe wondered, does that stuff really work and is it really worth that $$$$? Hubby and I were discussing it today, and we decided to research it to find out. Turns out to be an expensive, and possibly dangerous combo of known dietary aids, (and some stuff that doesn't have any slimming effects) including ephedrine (adrenaline, epinephrine, ephedra, Ma Huang) which has caused some deaths. The stimulant-free version contains a pesticide!

Plus what the TV ad does NOT say is that you can't take it if you have a wide variety of health conditions, including heart conditions, diabetes and almost every complaint an obese person would be likely to have. Anyhow, here's the info, read it for yourself and decide:

I was curious, too, as I've gained an unspeakable number of pounds since my breast reduction surgery last year. I think I'll try some other things instead of this...

Thanks so much for the link and the research. I was tempted too, although the price alone put me off somewhat.

My first thought when I saw the commercial was, "Junky crap diet-pill scam." But I'm a cynical old crone. ;)

Not for everybody. All the times I've been hospitalized, I've done that, and gained weight.

I bought a couple of ADA cookbooks when I was first diagnosed, and tried some of the recipes. Well, they *were* tasty, but WOW, did my blood sugar go through the roof! Must be something wrong with me -- a fried egg, slice of ham and a slice of "cheese" on a bagel (a fat-lover's delight) raises my BS not at all, but an ADA approved dinner low in calories, fat and carbs shoots it up over 200. I lost 50 lbs in 6 months, and my cholesterol is just fine (thanks) on my greasey diet.

Go figure.

ROFL, if I took that I'd still be heavy, but Mike would be locking himself in the basement. That's the LAST thing I need!
