What a wonderful thing for you to have done for them, Annie! And I agree with you -- I just don't understand people not loving blue. ;) But I'm delighted that the quilt turned out well (do we get to see pics?) and that the couple loved and appreciated it. :D

I had a similar feeling yesterday. A couple years ago, I surprised my sister-in-law with a quilted throw. She loved it and keeps it on her bed. Yesterday she showed me her bedroom; she had had it painted red to bring out the red border in the quilt. Photo of the quilt at

That is very pretty Julia, I bet it thrilled you to find out she painted the room to accent your quilt. LOL I am thinking of making a lap quilt for my sister for Christmas but I think I will give it to her like she gave me a signed and numbered print for my 25th birthday. I am considering just doing the top and tell her when I learn to do the back I will quilt it for her. 26 years ago she gave me a very expensive print, unframed and told me she would have it framed for me so she took the print home to have framed and I haven't seen it since. Guess that is a good way to give a gift and keep it yourself. Oh but she had also bought me a postcard of the print, and I still have it to remind her every so often that she still has my print.

I love sewing and applique and piecing and making quilts, and I 'specially love designing quilts, but . . . . . . . yep, nothing beats the feeling you get when you give one to someone and their face lights up.

Isn't it great! A few months ago I saw the woman who won the quilt I made for my chorus raffle this spring. She told me she's bought a house and has painted her bedroom to go with the quilt. Liz
