OT: Update on my Mom

I wish I had MORE of an update. :(

Mom just called, she's been to see her doc this morning (after an abdominal CT scan yesterday). Her blood count has dropped again (low hemoglobin and hematocrit) which tells him she IS bleeding internally *somewhere*. The CT was inconclusive, though, so he's admitting her to the hospital today for more tests and more blood. That's all I know so far. She sounded tired again, and she's more than willing to go in because she wants this fixed. I have a lot of faith in her, she's tough. I just wish I were closer, for right now.

Mike said "go home" if I need to. For now, though, I know there's not much I can do there, except pace her new living room carpet threadbare. Guess I'll go melt glass instead.

This just happened the a co-worker's mother. She had two bleeding ulcers and they didn't find this out for about a week or so. Have they checked for this?

She is still quite young isn't she? Ant ideas what the problem is? Long term stress, hereditary ailment? ? ?

I think you're right that being with her right now would not be the best use of resources. Healing vibes for her. And hugs for you.

does she have any history of stomach ulcers, colitis or that sort of thing? Does she take a lot of ibuprofen or that sort of drug for arthritis ???? (that can lead to stomach bleeding... mom's hairdresser over did Aleve and ended up in the hospital with a bleeding stomach!)
