Pix of my beads from Leah Fairbanks class

Hey, everyone! A day late but hopefully worth it. Instead of posting endless links, I set up a simple webpage with the pix from my class with Leah.

I apologize for the size of the pix, but I wanted to show the details. More pix after I get my day 2 beads tomorrow.

I see someone else is using what I call "collars" on the end of their bicones like I've been doing - had never seen anyone else use that technique.... love them colors... I like the furrowed design a lot - it looks very ancient.

Wowzer! Wonderful beads and sounds like you had a good time.

How is your mother doing?

To be honest, I'm not real sure which is Leah's bead and which isn't in the pic. LOL! Gorgeous work!

Cheryl, I do bicones like that, too, but I call them 'rims'. On hollows, I round them up a bit more for 'knobs'.

I'm still looking forward to taking my first lampworking class. Just a couple of months to go... Loren Stump!

T>DAMN WOMAN!

Thanks! No real news yet. She sees her doc this afternoon. She sounded a lot better yesterday. We're crossing our fingers.

This is probably the only aspect of being so far away that I really dislike. :(

The florals are fab, but the furrowed bead really rocks my world!

It's so weird... I haven't really seen any other working artists in action. It will be mind-blowing to actually get to take a class. Tomorrow, I am going to a Sharon Peters demo! Yay! It will be great!

I'm swooning now from that statement.

Well, I can tell you this... Hers was one of the first sites on lampworking I ever saw. I love her stuff and her humor, and just know I won't be able to sleep tonight from the anticipation!

I love Leah Fairbanks stuff, too... And I totally love the pic of her on her website. I heard a rumor that Lap Journal wouldn't use that pic of her for an article about her. Or something like that. Weird.

Hey, I'm totally swooning at the prospect of getting to see her at work! It's like a two hour demo! Not only that, but I'll be with new friends as well as old, and will get to meet some folks from WC, too! My assistant, Donna, is driving... Gini Behrendt who owns the gallery where I teach is going with us!

OMG My new neon sign arrived today! An adorable guy over at WC made it for me! My name up in lights! TINK in purple, with a yellow star dotting the "i". It totally rocks!

I've spent all morning rearranging my studio... Hanging up the neon sign... Hanging up my three Robert Mickelsen ornaments... All in preparationg for what I suspect will be an awesome torching session. It's like I can FEEL it coming... Like a tsunami or something. It's very strange, but it's palpable.

Thanks Cheryl!!! I'm suddenly seeing LOTS of possibilities.

I have a bad habit of using lip wraps (collars) for beads where I don't like the way the ends have come out, if I don't want to flog them to death. I do it with hollows a lot because my openings sometimes go jaggy. (There you have it, true confession. LOL) With this bead, the holes were fine but the end markings looked sloppy to me. More to learn and practice.

Oh! And you're gonna LOOOOOVE Loren's class. But....sleep a lot before you go, and acquire mass amounts of whatever caffeine-conveyance you prefer. I swear Loren is hyperactive!
