Packaging silver

i received this from a wholesaler, and thought i would share. i'm going to start putting it on the bottom of all my invoices.

"RE: 100% solid sterling silver (0.925). When wrapping your items, do not place them directly in paper, cardboard, or cotton-filled boxes, as these contain trace elements of sulfur which will tarnish your silver jewelry. For best results, place the items in a sealed plastic bag or jeweler's sulfur-free tissue [different from standard tissue] prior to boxing and wrapping."

another tidbit - never put pearls in plastic bags. I'm not sure why, but I've read that in several places. Pearls like soft cloth bags.

yeah I know. That's probably why most pearls are strung on string. And have gold clasps...

Plastic isn't poisonous to pearls; you just don't want to seal it up air tight. If you're really concerned, wrap the pearls in tissue with one of those anti-tarnish tabs or strips, and put the whole thing in an unsealed plastic bag.
