Silver cleaning cloth

Is there a way to clean off a silver-cleaning cloth after it is dirty?

I have only had mine a short while and have been cleaning my Bali. Once side is already pretty black and I have started on the other side.

The container said you can not wash it.

Is there any way to clean it?

thanks,

i'd love to know, too, Marisa. i can "feel" that the cleaner is still in there, but the cloth IS pretty black.

vj,

Does it still seem to be working even though it is black? Mine is defiantly still pretty slimy-feeling.

I know it sounds dumb but I can't really see that much difference in the silver. Making the yellow cloth turn black made me feel like I was doing something useful ;)

Marisa, Not to the best of my knowledge; just buy a new one. Sunshine cloth is not terribly expensive; if you don't have a source let me know and I can send you one.

But this raises a question in my mind... you're cleaning your Bali... are you cleaning off the blackened portions? Those are there deliberately, you know, to highlight the details of the piece. Normally you wouldn't want to clean those off.

Karin,

I guess I could buy more :). This sheet came in a plastic tube (one smallish sheet) and cost about $2.50 at my LBS. I don't buy much at the LBS but I have never tried polishing silver before and didn't know how long this would last, so I figured $2.50 wasn't much of an investment. Is that a bad price?

My intention is not to clean the black portions of the Bali, and those don't seem to be coming off. However, some of it has darkened (especially the stuff that is loose in my fishing boxes instead of within a plastic bag, and the components in finished pieces, most of which unfortunately are not really in air-tight containers). This Bali definitely looks duller then newly purchased items.

Frankly I can't see much of a difference after I rub it off, maybe it looks a little shinier.

I mainly am trying to clean up the silver jump rings etc which have dullened considerably.

that's about what i feel like most of the time - but yes, it's still working. i think i have a hard time using something that "looks" dirty!

probably the mother in me!

ouch! my sympathies! my first ex used to punish sentries who screwed up by making them polish ammo. this fits into the same category!

that's what i was afraid of - thanks. i definitely need to invest in gloves!

No, that's not too bad. I buy mine wholesale, and am maybe getting larger sheets than you did. I cut some up (about a 2x3 piece) and put it in a baggie with my business card, and give those with each sale, then sell the sheets separately as well. I'm not sure what size they are - 6x9 maybe? Don't have one with me.

I didn't *really* think you were trying to get all the black off of the bali, but thought if your cloth was getting black way too fast, that might have been the issue. They do continue to work even after they look nasty though. :-)
