Vicki, if you have trouble with peyote stitch here is how I do it. When I want to do peyote around something. I glue a small strip of thin interfacing around the bead or bottle or whatever and stitch the first row on the interfacing. Then I go back through this row and make the thread tight. This way I can easily start the next row and work from there. Roxan

I'm with Kathy on this one. The nice thing about Peyote is that it is like almost like a fabric and has a great deal of fluidity. I think embellishment for peyote comes in more when you are doing free form.

I tend to think of RAW as being the most versatile for shaped objects, e.g. ball ornaments, ruffles, mostly because that is how my aunt used it. I have a doll she clothed that even has RAW panties. However, I can see how it would be much easier to add embellishment on the edge because the edge bead would not have a bead immediately above and below it.

well, it's not the stitch itself i'm having trouble with - - it's adding the embellishment to it. somehow, i'm not getting it right, so i thought maybe i was using the wrong "stitch" to begin with.
