vj found this in rec.crafts.beads, from Kathy N-V :
]Which works better for what? I like using RAW for things that are going to ]have tons of add-ons, like a slew of charms, or for things that I want to ]have an airy look (without embellishment). Peyote is sleeker, and I use that ]when I want the underlying bead fabric to show. I'm not fond of two or three ]drop Peyote, I pretty much stick with single Peyote, which gives me a snakey ]look. ] ]For most embellished bracelets and necklaces, I use a simple strand of ]FireWire, strung with alternating 6/0 beads and 11/0 beads. This leaves me ]with loads of room to pass threads and hang dangly things off the bracelet. ]I've used three or four strands like this on a multi-strand clasp, when I ]wanted a wider bracelet.

** thanks - i think. so it's mostly my choice.
**sigh
** i've got several watchbands to do. the beads on the outside edges need to have holes large enough for wire to slide through. but it's the actual adding the embellishment itself that's driving me crazy. that's why i wondered if one stitch was better than the other.
