Re: new beads (link)

They are about 1 1/4" tall. The holes run vertically through them.

They are SUPER, Jerri. I especially love the one with the roses!!! (for rosaries they are better without any above-the-surface decoration).

above-the-surface decoration?<

Rosaries sustain a lot more wear and tear than a necklace; they are "handled" quite a lot and small lampworked detail that is 3-dimensional can break off with repeated use.

Also, a woman's rosary spends the vast majority of time in her purse. When a woman is using the rosary for its intended purpose, she's usually fingering or rubbing the particuar bead between her fingers. A rosary also has been known to hit the back of the pew, it's hard to keep that from happening if you're kneeling.

I have some old rosaries where the beads are worn and "loved looking" from decades of being used on a daily basis. As for me, I'm not that devout: I don't say a rosary every day. On the occasions where I do say the rosary (don't laugh), I count on my fingers.

Thanks Carol and Kathy,

I thought it was something like that. I've been asked about making Anglican prayer beads, and wanted to find some inexpensive crosses for them. I thought the same thing, that I could make the crosses like these, and leave them plain.

Wow

those are cool!

BTW - if you type your URL address with http:// in front of the address - it will show up as an active link on the board - otherwise we all have to cut and paste see your pretties.

I love the crosses - I have seen some other lampwork crosses - C. Craswell or something like that - she makes some pretty ones too. I have made beads for a rosary for myself - and thought about making a cross - but never got around to it... LOL
