Re: OT: Story - Nightmare Son

if the past four hours are any example-- it's definitely NOT better... and yes it is nearly 5 am in the morning and I have not had any sleep-- as I have watched over my son and his girlfriend since they came home from a party - obviously having ingested things in quantities unnatural - and from other evidence -- very dangerous. I've been checking their consciousness state every 20 minutes... at least both are rousable - though totally disoriented. I'm so F....king disgusted I could scream.

My mother, who has the world's worst singing voice, would wake us up the next morning with German folk songs. Ouch. She'd then offer nice, runny poached eggs and the like for breakfast, and caffeine was off-limits. Then she would assign chores that needed to be done right away -- the more vomit/headache inducing the better.

It is not fun to have a bad hangover and hear yodeling and songs of the mountains for hours. I learned my lesson the first time, but my sister and brother have a lot of not-so-fond memories of getting out of bed at 6:30 a.m. to Songs of Our Homeland. The eggs just made it worse.

BTW, we couldn't ever get away with lying about how late it was when we came in. Mom was usually asleep when we got in, but she could tell what time you arrived to the second. It was only years later that we found out the bottom step was loose, and we invariably made a klunking noise that carried to Mom's bedroom as we were trying to sneak in after curfew.

i had mine totally convinced. mainly because i have extra sharp hearing. and i trained myself from the day they were born to listen for the sounds of their voices.
