Scrapbookers Nightmare

REMODELING!!

DH and I have decided to remodel my office/scrapbook room, tearing out a wall and adding it to the daycare portion of the house. Then I will be moved (office/scrapbook room) to the old playroom at the front of the house. The move will actually be a good one as my room will be separated more from both the daycare and the house where people won't be coming through or in it for other things. Problem will be the length of time I will be almost completely boxed us. DH and I will only be able to work on it some in the evening and on weekends (in-between soccer and scouts). I'm in the process of boxing up my genealogy materials and attempting to empty some of the shelves. I'm going to try to go slow and sort out the things I will need access to before we're done to keep available. After filling three totes tonight I can't even see a dent in the room.

The plus to this will be that I will be forced to sort out all of my scrapbooking supplies. I told DH I had to make Christmas cards before that side of the room can be boxed up and he just rolled his eyes and walked out.

Of course the scrapbook room/office will be the last one to be finished because of the daycare. But I will be able to utilize a lot of the shelving which is built-in.

My stuff was boxed up for close to 7 months but in the end it was worth it because I have plenty of room and everything is organized.

It is worth it in the end, just keep telling yourself that during the process. OMG-the dust. Be prepared. Our last project involved new flooring on 2 of the 3 floors of our house. moved every single piece of furniture on those floors. What a nightmare. And spent the next week cleaning EVERYTHING. But in the end, I got a scraproom and I LOVE IT. You will too. Don't forget to take pictures of the process! Kathy

I'm excited for you and sad for you. hahaha. Hang in there it will be well worth it, but you're going to pull a lot of hair out before it's done.

Sounds like a big project there Sandy! You have a lot of stuff in your scraproom/office now if I remember seeing your pictures! Good Luck and think of how many MORE Christmas cards and scrapbook pages you will be able to make when its all done, and it will give you a better inventory of what scrap supplies you have. Yay for you! I cant wait to see pictures! Linda Linda

Sounds like it will be great once it's finished!!! Maybe it will go faster than you think, and then you'll have all your stuff sorted and organized too! I would love to have a new room, the nursery is what used to be my scrap room, now I have to share with my hubby.

OMG! Sandy - well at least you can look forward to a nice and peacefull new Scrap room. Good luck - you must be almost finished now - please post pics when you are done :)

I definetly agree - the dust is the worst - we had new ceilings put in a year ago - I could not believe it - it took weeks to clean out propperly!

Right now I'm down to three totes of scrapbook supplies I can't find room for. We built a wall of bookshelves in the old playroom and that is already full. I'm trying to talk DH into a bookshelf in the upstairs hallway for the reference books I use for scouts as I don't use them on a daily or weekly basis as I do the history and genealogy ones. Then I will have more room for my scrapbook supplies. DD finally found the box of adhesive last night. She was working on a presentation for school. I was glad I decided not to go the the LSS retreat this past weekend. I don't think I would have been able to find everything I needed with the mess I'm still in. We're working on the empty old office at this point, converting it into part of the playroom. We've got one wall out already and hope to tear out the other wall this weekend. Never ending.........

Sandy
