Re: Story - Yes Sir, that's my baby!

Thats no more than a good parent should do. How else are we to instill a healthy and humorous sceptisism into our children? Diana, who's husband makes every bad movie into Mystery Science Theatre 3000

Your husband does that, too?? It used to be one of our favorite pasttimes...well, is during the winter, when it's raining too hard to go out and do stuff. Heehee...we're all a bunch of weirdos (and that's not a bad thing, I promise).

Thats what they said, but then its easy to make dumb comments, and i think DH tries to be a bit more clever. He made me laugh, and I hadnt even seen the movie. Thats skill. Diana

I love her a zillion times more than that - there are so many stories that I don't write down because they just don't lend themselves to the story form, or need too much background to make sense. This next anecdote doesn't make a lot of sense, but we were laughing until we had to hold our sides.

Our town is the "home" of the Fung-Wah Bus. The Fung-Wah Bus is reknowned for its cheap, cheap prices: $10 each way from Boston's South Station to New York's Chinatown. Of course, they only have three buses, do not take reservations, and habitually oversell tickets. There are many, many shrieking arguments and some physical altercations as three or more people fight over a single seat. No one working for the company speaks English, so if you don't speak Cantonese, you're at a distinct disadvantage. Still, at $10, it's an extremely popular service.

Whenever Manda and I go by the Fung-Wah parking lot, we shout out "It's the Fung-Wah! Hooray for the Fung-Wah!" (No particular reason why, we just like to cheer for the Fung-Wah) Bob pretends that he has never met us, even though we are in the same car as he is. He does the same thing when we sing the Union Label song, or act like fools in public. We think he should just surrender to the inevitable and join the fun.

To add to this mix, my Mother is known for a couple of things: being an absolutely horrible traveler (demanding and mean), being unbelievably cheap, and not acknowledging the previous two characteristics. We never, ever tell her about cheap travel deals, simply to protect the traveling public.

Yesterday, Manda was coming home from my mother's house, and she passed the Fung-Wah parking area, and automatically did our usual Fung-Wah cheer. My mother asked what was going on, and Manda (who should have known better) told her about the $10 fares. My mother is now pushing for all of us to take a trip to NYC to take in a show. Um, no. Not in this lifetime. However, Amanda is free to go with Omi, since she spilled the beans about the cheap fares.

Manda and I spent a good hour imitating Omi on the Fung-Wah, and laughing our heads off. Then Manda went with Bob to Sacred Bowling Night, so she could see all the old buddies from the league she sees once a year. Several women and one man told her to stop all this growing, because she's getting rather tall.

But that's not all she did. When she came in, I was lounging in my chair, and NYC was about the last thing on my mind. Until my daughter gave me a toy plastic bus, with the words "Fung-Wah" written on the side in Sharpie.

Yeah, its whacked, but we love whacked.
