I went to the State Fair today. Spoke to some people who made jewelry. Like the rest of us, they were underpriced. But were charging what the market will allow. The concensus seems to be, unless you're selling in a gallery/boutique you won't get what your pieces are worth.
Got some fossils and a wolf made from old ivory. A couple pieces of pottery. And Fair food. Also some new massage oils. And rocks.
I got some interesting crystals called pyromoronite. Sounds like someone stupid who starts fires, doesn't it! And a pound sized roundish rock that opens up to show a tribolite and a casing of rock. I had hoped to find an ammonite to take a mold of, but she hasn't finished opening her boxes yet. Also a Jacare quartz that looks like a construction of tabular crystals, and lots of rainbows, and some smoky too. It reminds me of flourite, with all its squared surfaces. And a large (about 9" x 12" x 2") and very cool rock of ocean fossils. Such cool stuff! And good prices.
We were there about 4 hours. I don't think I could work a fair and do that
8 to 12 hours in a day!
