The Great Frederick Fair (not OT)

The fair is in town this week so we went last night with a twofold purpose. One was to indulge in Fair food. (good stuff!) and the other was to check out the craft pavillion to see what beaded stuff had been entered.

There were only two entries. One was a truly fugly strung necklace. I can only hope it was entered by a child. The other was also strung jewelry, but she had displayed it on black velvet. Two pens, earrings, necklace and bracelet. Rather ordinary, but pretty enough. Neither one placed, and I need to find out what they were competing against.

So I have all year to come up with a masterpiece that will knock their socks off.

I haven't actually touched my beads (except to fondle) since I got diagnosed. But this really did inspire me - I know I can do better than I saw and it would definitely be cool to win a ribbon.

Cheri - who was so exhausted from all that walking I am still tired today!

Never speak badly or laugh aloud at such things. I have found, to my peril, that every time I laugh at fugly, misshapen craft items that it is some special piece made by a retarded, blind child with no arms and no legs, who put it together with his tongue or some such. Also, the artist's grandmother is keeping watch over the item, preparing to smack whoever makes a rude comment about their baby's masterpiece.

I always leave those kinds of events with bruises.
