I just got back from the vet's office. My lovely Mina, age 23, is no longer suffering from renal failure. I'll talk about it more when I'm not crying.

Awwwww, lots of hugs. I know how it hurts to lose a pet that's been a family member for so long. I had to have Kisses put down 9 years ago and I still miss her. I have 3 other cats. But I've never found another anywhere near as nice as her. I moved 8 times while she was with me. Each time she would step out of her carry cage, check out the new digs, then jump into my lap and give me several kisses before curling up to sleep somewhere. Barbara Dream Master

Celine, I'm so sorry. :( It hurts so much to say goodbye to an old friend. I've had to do it too, and it's never an easy thing. You will see Mina again. She is waiting for you. -- Beckie

I'm so sorry for your loss, Celine.

I am so sorry. My beloved Trinkett owns my heart and I feel your pain.
Oh, Celine. It's the hardest thing we do for the pets we love, but the kindest thing as well. She'll be waiting for you at the Bridge.

Sometimes it is so hard to do the right thing. I'm so sorry.

Can't think of anything adequately consoling to say. Lots of couples aren't with each other that long. This absence must leave a giant, gaping hole.

Oh ((((((Celine))))))! I'm so sorry to hear that. You are in my thoughts...

It sounds like Mina was a treasured member of your family who lived her life in comfort and love.
That she certainly was. She loved chicken, and would always get up on the back of the sofa behind my chair when I was eating it. Then she started putting her paws on the back of my chair. Then she put her front paws up on my shoulder, and I thought it was "cute", so I didn't discourage her immediately... and the next thing I knew, she was SITTING on my shoulder doing the Snoopy-vulture at my chicken! I had to call for help, because I was afraid if I moved she'd fall; her balance wasn't great during the last year or so.
It's going to be a long time before I stop expecting to hear her up on the sofa behind me, *demanding* a share of chicken, whenever I'm eating some.
Celine
Celine, you have my deepest sympathy. People call them "pets", but they are not; they are family members. Evalynne
