Any one get "stitch gifts" for Christmas

None yet....but I think I'll probably use some of the $$$ from DM for "stitch gifts." Perhaps I'll use some of the Borders Gift Card $$ for stitching books or magazines I normally would just look at but not buy.

I placed an order for a old cross stitch chart that's either out of print or in very short supply, which shall remain nameless because I can't for the life of me remember the name now and I'm too lazy to look it up. I think it might be called something like Out Of This World. It's just an abstract design that uses lots of colors and odds and ends of floss. It looked like a fun project to have handy when you need something to pick up and put down without a thought.

I hope they can find it for me.

Sadly, I just got a phone call from a friend who was with us at Christmas dinner yesterday. His wife, who we knew wasn't feeling great went home, had a massive heart attack and died last night. We all had a great time talking and laughing and eating too much so at least her last time was a happy one.

Yes--a total surprise too. A friend knit a lap sized throw from a pretty boucle yarn in sort of autumn tree colours (greens, golds, browns.) Since I will (finally) have 3 days off in a row at New Years, I look forward to test driving it then on a couch with a cat and a good book.

Several years ago I stitched the head of Evangeline, a MLI design, on silk gauze. For Christmas I received a music box with a nice oval opening in which it fits nicely. I'll post a picture after I mount it.

I received a small item in my Xmas stocking. Can't remember the name of it, but it is the little plastic magnifying bar, which has magnets either end, and can mark the place on your chart when on a metal sheet. The little magnets had fallen off mine, and DH said he had some in his Man Cave. I forgot about it, until I found it in my stocking.

My New Year Resolution is to take time to stitch a little each day; especially since I have a new "domestic engineer", nicknamed "The White Tornado" around the neighborhood. She will be coming every two weeks, so I HAVE to pick up the place before her visits.

I'm sorry. Same thing happened to us a few years back at a gathering my sister had. The family was comforted by the fact that he had spent his last hours fishing and partying with friends - things he loved to do.

My daughter-in-law (who once said she would never do 'craft' - she's an artist) now has a home of her own and has begun stitching. This year I got a lovely appliqued sampler. Will wonders never cease!!! Sandy

But, but, but.............this is NOT just a "craft", this is *FiberArt* I will have her know. (Even though I , personaly, do not do cross stitch - not my preference).

I'm happy, too! And I agree about the miracle part. I got not one, but *two* gift certificates to Nordic Needle!!!! They will pay for nearly all I need for the Carol Singers design by Victoria Sampler. WOOHOO! This is the first time, I think, I've ever gotten stitchy gifts from family, other than from my mom.

Not this year, but I am still owed a present from my sister - maybe she did make it up to that shop in Geneva. . .

I did hit Joann's yesterday and got a bunch of Christmas-y material for NEXT year's presents - I am going to make holiday throws for those who I think might appreciate them~!

I recieved two Anchor books drawn thread and blackwork, two seed beading books, and a book of making jewlery using celtic knots that looks very interesting. I have never received so many stitiching books. I was amazed.

Do you mean those small Anchor books ? I have those and find them excellent ready references, yet small enough to keep with needlework.

Hey - this gives me an idea for a lot of old floss I have lying around. I have had a design drawn out for years - - sort of a stained glass window effect. Thanks for the inspiration and memory jog.

Sorry about that woman, but at least she didn't linger and suffer.

And don't forget the soft music of your choice and a hot chocolate. Doesn't get much better than that. (And the hubster out of the house too, if that applies... : )) )
