calculation?

Question

I wondered if there is a formula for figuring out how much thread is needed for a design. I know each design gives the amount of stitches--so if a design uses 9000 stitches, how many of these could I get in an 1100m cone? Sandy

Unfortunately, I do not think that is possible to provide that type of information through a direct count of the stitches.  This is due to the fact that not each stitch in any embroidery design is the same length. If you are using a satin stitch, the length could be a very different length than a fill stitch.  The only place I have ever seen this type of information provided is in a digitizing program such as Origins(tm). When you create a design using the software it knows which type of stitches are being used and therefore can give an approximate calculation of the amount of thread used for the design.R
