Hi Richard - believe it or not, PED is trying to help - they have a check in the software that looks to see if too many of the areas/pieces of your design is stitching in the same direction, which will cause problems with the outline(s) not matching up, usually in the areas perpendicular to the majority stitch direction.
What supposed to be happening is, when you click the message to make it go away, look to see what's selected when the message box goes away. It should be highlighting one/the area that the software believes should be changed - and what they want you to change is the stitch direction in order to reduce the pull on the fabric created when you stitch it out.
Richard - If you mentioned it, I missed it - what version of PED are you using?? It may be helpful to look at the design in Preview (not realistic preview) mode, and evaluate the stitch directions that way - try modifying them to see if that helps.
