Digital pics of LO's

Hi guys

I'm trying to take digital phodies of a LO for the first time. Befor I use to scan my LO's, but the 12x12 is too big for the scanner. Is it best to put the LO eye level on a wall with the light source from the back? When I do this, the photo is more "straight", but there's glare on the pictures in the LO. Or is it better take the pic from "above" with the LO lying on a flat surface? The result of this is that the picture is not "straight". The dimensions are affected, but the photo is clearer. Please help.....I'm really struggling!

Hi Judy,

Here's what I do. I put the layout on the floor (especially a 12x12) and have all my lights on to give the maximum lighting possible.

Then I zoom in but leaving a little bit of the floor all around the layout. And then I snap the picture.

I bring the picture to my editing software (I use Microsoft's Picture It) and then crop the picture and adjust the picture--whether it is too dark or too light.

I then save it as a jpg and then post away. I use it a lot to edit my photos. Most if not all the recent postings on my ivillage account were edited this way. It also makes "stitching" so much easier. I never could figure out how to do it is photoshop.

I hope this helps.

Hugs, Kate

Thanks Kate! You won't believe how many times I photographed this LO today! LOL...inside the house with the light from the side, then from behind, outside adhered to a garden wall (the neighbours must think I've finally lost it...lol), on a table with me standing on a chair - I had to keep balance while aiming! lol!, on a wall inside, everywhere ...but never thought of the floor! I will definitely try that next time.

For now I've d/l a program called Panostitcher and scanned the LO twice and stitched it together digitally. The results was okay, not perfect, but much better than my attempts with the digi-cam ;))) Thanks a lot for the advice, much appreciated :)

Hi Judy,

I have taken the majority of my photos laying on the floor with me standing directly above them either on a chair or step stool. I then zoom in till they nearly fill the screen. I'm not the best picture taker in the world, but I think you guys can see my work. Check out my webshots to get an idea. I need to keep experimenting myself. I do it this way because the glare on the pictures is a minimum.

Thanks Lynne! Looks like Kate use the same method as you. I will definitely give it a try. I've also downloaded a stitching programme called Panostitch and have figured out the digital stitching. Not as difficult as I thought.
