scanning

How do you guys scan a layout to be saved on the computer? Do you just take a picture of it and then dl it into the computer? I don't have software that 'stitches' them back together. I haven't saved any lo because I don't know how to do it! I have lots of lo's that I'd like to share.

thanks!

Hi, Cristina!

My digital camera came with a stitching software. I scan my layout then use the stitching software from the camera to stitch together. I know several people on this board take digital photos to post also.

Your scanner program should have a stitching option in it. Look on the edit pull down menu (that's where it is on mine).

You can do it either way. I usually scan mine and stitch them together. The printer/scanner came with a photo editing software. You may have to stitch "manually", but if you have a scanner, it should have come with software. The digital camera we have also came with photo editing software. Adobe Photoshop Elements is another great photo editing software to try, too.

If stitching just doesn't work for you, feel free to take a pic of the LO. Sometimes, especially if I have lots of bulky items on my page, taking a picture is better than scanning. If you take a picture of the LO, I highly suggest doing it during the day, especially if it's a sunny day. What a difference the sun makes...found that out the hard way. LOL

Just do whatever works for you. We'll be happy to look at a LO whether it's scanned or a picture!

Christina,

I sometimes scan pictures of my layouts - but normally I have to not only stitch the layout back together but also alter the colours to make it more "life-like" because the colours tend to be a little washed out after scanning.

But mostly I take photos of my layouts - mainly because I have a lot of

3D elements on my pages which are difficult to scan.

Sorry for piggy backing Tammy :)

Christina, if you have a scanner, you can scan your LO twice in order to get all of it on two files. Then you have to stitch it digitally. There are a few free stitching programmes online which you can d/l. ArcSoft works the best for me. It takes a bit of getting used to, but after a while you get the hang of it. You do get the odd LO that just refuses to scan propperly.

Another option is to take a digital picture of your LO and then just uploading it to your PC. I personlly don't use this method, but have tried it once or twice and have found that you get the best results by taking the picture from the top - ie - with your LO on the floor and you standing - less glare by the flash that way.

Good Luck! I hope to see some of your work soon :)
