Scanning LO's with bulky embelishments

Hi guys

I wanted to scan a LO today for the first time, but what a disappointment! The embelishments are too bulky and now I get a lot of shadows on my scanned LO. I've got a flatbed scanner and tried lifting the top and putting a blanket over it, slightly pressing down, and its a BIT better, but still not acceptable. Can someone please help? :(

Thanx a lot!

I have had some success using a clear acrylic poster frame, the box kind. I put my page in the frame. The frame holds the cover of the scanner at a uniform height. Then I cover the whole thing with a towel. This seems to work. If I don't cover it everything has a green tint. Peggy in NJ

Hi Ronni :)

Thanx for the info! I've asked around at a few outlets this side (Canon, HP, Lexmark), but the personnel is not that clued up on the optics of the scanners. May I ask which brand of scanner you have?

A few people have advised me to use a digital camera? Does one loose a lot of the quality and detail of the LO?

Thank you so much for your help. You sound very knowledgeable on the technical side of things and I"m severely "challenged" in that department! LOL
