Here in the beautiful prairie, yesterday opened with white mist hanging low. It clung to the trees and silvered them with hoar frost. When the fog lifted, the sun came out actually sunshine yellow and the sky turned perfect prairie sky blue. And just when it couldn't get any more beautiful, the frost started drifting down from the trees, like glitter in that yellow sunshine. Sounds like a plan to me! spent the morning with Bobbie V; went to Trader Joes and the bead store.

I *love* your description, Dawne! That's just the way it is on the prairie! We got that lovely, thick frost this morning....*gorgeous*!!! And a plus was there was no wind today so it's still (at 3:30) on everything, although not quite as heavily as it was this morning. We didn't get the blue skies today, though. I was kicking myself that I had left my camera at work yesterday so couldn't take any pics.

Yum! I need to make a trip to Saskatchewan, methinks!

It sounds gorgeous! For a very short vacation, that is. Me, I prefer to stay here in the middle of the noisy, dirty city, with sidewalks and streetcars, and where the supermarket and the grocery store are each two blocks away, the LNS/LYS is five blocks, and there are several nice restaurants in between. All in easy walking distance.

Dawne is well within reach of stupidmarkets and stores, if that is what she chooses. There is nothing more beautiful than the Prairies, where the sky literally goes on forever and a starlit night is beyond belief.

I have lived by the sea all my life and need to see the sea daily but if that were not so, my second choice would be where Dawne is. Two years ago when I drove across country for the third time, Saskatchewan was to me one of our most beautiful provinces.

I'd love to visit where you are! In a cooler time of the year!

Regina is the largest city in the province, and has all of the urban things I need (okay, right at the moment I could use a LNS, and a LUSH store, and maybe an IKEA)--but one of the things the city boasts in this world of hour long commutes is that it is still 15 minutes more or less to anywhere by car. And in 15 minutes, I can be down the highway and in the middle of the prairie.

The standing joke about the prairie is "my dog ran away--I watched him for 3 days" (it turns up in the theme song for Corner Gas), and we do measure road trips by how many hours it takes, but that spaciousness, and being able to watch the stars at night in the biggest skies anywhere---

I think maybe one of the great happiness factors in life is feeling that the landscape you are in is just where you belong, whatever that is for you.

I like that one too! I remember reading years ago about a family in Alberta, I think, that had a pet buffalo. Apparently it was housebroken, as it stayed inside with them. The living room in the picture was huge!

Yuck--I've been there and I've done that when I was in Alaska. No steak, but burgers and ribs. I found it very dry and very much like eating gritty string.

They cooked it all wrong then...at least as burgers. I'm the only one that likes ribs, so I never make them

The buffalo was done on an old fashioned charcoal grill. How it was prepared, I have no clue.

I bet you had your burger well-done. I LOVE buffalo burgers, but they have to be medium-well at the most. Same with the steaks.
