I put the last stitch (that I'm going to do) on the bib while watching the ballgame tonight. The stamping was so far off and I ran short of the dark blue thread that was supposed to be used for backstitching so I punted and outlined the train cars with #5 perle. I decided not to do all the backstitching within the cars since it was all large blocks of bold colors and the backstitching wouldn't add any essential detail. OTOH, putting the perle around the edges (and the inside edges of the windows) hid all the stamping that I couldn't cover with crosses. It is now in the wash. I had to hurry to get it done tonight since we just got a letter today from the county which says they are flushing the water system Mon-Wed and I sure don't want to risk doing laundry then.
Still no word from the expecting friend so I assume I have finished the piece in time!
