books

I came to the computer with a list of things to look up/people to write to/things to talk about, and rctn was on my list with a book recommendation with the hockey fans in mind. I read a review of this hockey mystery that recommended it, and immediately thought of y'all:

The Code, by G.B. Joyce

And I just finished the new Jennifer Chiaverini titled Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker. It's the story of Elizabeth Keckley. I liked it. The beginning part was a little slow - it's Chiaverini's first truly historic fiction and didn't flow quite as smoothly as her fiction-fiction, but she did eventually find her "legs" and it improved as it went along.

Yesterday I started "Snow White Must Die", the latest European blockbuster mystery (German author Nele Neuhaus) to finally be translated into English and shipped across the ocean. Off to a great start! Planning to do a lot of stitching/sewing today, so I don't know that I'll be able to hunker down with it again until tonight - tempting as it is!
