Cross stitch LNS's going out of business?

Hi,

I am curious if anyone knows of any LNS's that may be going out of business and is looking for someone to buy their inventory. My mother used to own her own shop in the mid-80's and is now looking at wanting to open her own shop once again. I mentioned to her that it may be easier to start this time around if she was able to purchase an existing inventory to get her started. She (although she is thinking we), would like to include all types of needlework, not just cross stitch. Needlepoint, yarns for knitting, crocheting, and everything in between with cross stitch being a large part of her inventory.

Does anyone have any advice on where to look to get started? The Needlearts have come along way since the 80's. But we really don't have anything locally in our area. The closest LNS is an hour away.

Thanks so much if you can help.

What I have seen noted on other XS-related boards here or there is that sometimes liquidating large lot auctions occur on Ebay. Some individuals are in the process of closing out the LNS or have already done so (still having stock left over). I couldn't guess on search parameters, but it is something to keep an eye out for...

I don't know if it's too late or not to contact these folks, but 2 shops recently closed down in Cincinnati, Twisted Threads and Creative Cottage, and one in Wayneville, Scarlet Thistle. It might be worthwhile to try and contact them. Good luck!

Mine is closing :) Cross stitch supplies and the entire shop is marked under wholesale prices. So she could get a good bargain! I put everything left on the site in the shopping cart yesterday and came up with a total of $761.15. It's roughly $1400 worth at wholesale prices! Kim

Kathie,

My LNS is going out of business. She sells cross stitch and knitting stuff. Please email me at dtwinter 2001 @ knit yahoo.com (take out the knitting and spaces).

Way overload here. Far too many of these LNS selling the same garbage over and over again and at incredibly high prices.

Good riddence to bad rubbish but on the up note, can you get some stuff cheap?
