Darn metallic Thread!!!

I use paper napkins all the time which is my way of saying that I'm not an expert on cloth napkins ... but it seems to me that beads and sequins would make the napkin feel weird when used to wipe hands or mouth. Would gravy or other food come off in the wash? Why couldn't you put a somewhat decorative backing on the napkins to hide your stitches?

Of course stitching will show on the back of napkins. That's when learning how to be very neat comes into play. :~) Agreeing with Anne, I wouldn't use beads or sequins on a napkin. In the end, it's a choice you'll have to make. Napkins are usually sparsely decorated.

I know which pattern you mean, it was on my 'wait for the sales' list 'til I overspent on yarn and stockings and tree skirts. Blue still is asking why I have 6 felt stockings, 2 felt tree skirts, 1 x-stitch tree skirt and 3 xmas quilts*? I think he misses the "bah-humbug days". Luckily, his only concern on the 60+ lbs of yarn was the 1 lb of baby yarn.

That has holly berries buried in the ribbons? You could do those with metallic to bring them forward. Or just the metal tops of the baubles, just to catch the light.

If you stitch the back neatly, then there is no need to be dismayed regarding the back of the napkins. That's just life. :-)

  • one stocking for the back of each dining chair; two trees, ergo two tree skirts; the xstitch tree skirt will be a table topper. OK, I went overboard on the quilts. :-) I claim the fifth on the yarn, all of it. :-)
