as a very kind friend has offered to bring me some goodies back to the UK. I'm particularly after a complete set of DMC floss. If not an LNS, would there be a department store stocking needlework items?

I don't know where they are going, and I don't know of anyplace that sells the whole line in a package. However, Hobby Lobby stores carry the complete line - they could just go and pick up one of everything!
I'm in Princeton. The closest LNS is Crossstitch Unlimited in Hamilton (really more of a framing/needlepoint store.), but if what you want is DNC floss, Michaels Crafts stocks the complete set (usually on sale).
The closest Michaels is in Nassau Park Shopping Center (just off Rte.
1) between Target and Wegmann's Supermarket.Elizabeth
