I tried this for stash money. I couldn't make enough cash to make it worth my time.

Stitchers balk at the idea of paying someone else a reasonable hourly rate to finish one of their projects. Even though we are well aware of how much work/time will be entailed in finishing a UFO, we still can't help but think "Why should I pay someone else that much money when I can do it myself for free?"

The few successful jobs I had were finishing UFO's for the survivors of a stitcher. They wanted their loved one's last project to be finished and were willing to pay me decently for it. Luckily for us stitchers are not passing on at rates that would make that portion of the business profitable!

Sally, I wish you luck, but my experience with such a business proved disappointing.

You`re right there, Caryn. If you want to make a little money working at home - knitting is a MUCH better bet. Particularly if you are used by a wool-shop. There`s very little in cross stitch.

I did quite well knitting Aran sweaters when my kids were young! I think that the fastest I managed was knitting three in three weeks - but in that case the patterns were identical, so they became almost automatic! I love the variety you get in knitting Aran.
