Galleon and Sea Monsters

Has anyone done the counted cross stick by Counted Illuminations called Galleon and Sea Monsters? It is by Patricia Andrle. I am almost done stitching it and have found so many mistakes in the chart. I had to start checking the picture, after looking at the chart, to see if it matched, after ever new bit of sewing. I love the picture and am glad that I decided to do it, but am amazed at the mistakes. I'm doing it on an even weave over one, and it is half the size that it was intended to be, if that. I am hoping that I've caught all the differences. I notice last night that there is a whole bit that is just blank on the chart, where it is stitched on the picture. The funniest thing was when I stitch some of one color, only to have it red on the cover and blue on my fabric. Judy

It's an older chart, and many of the older charts have errors in them. Hand charting is difficult, and many stitchers have been spoiled by computer printed charts.

It was intended to be stitched over two on evenweave, or on aida, so stitching over one on an evenweave is going to make it smaller.

I've done bits from it on a couple of samplers, and I liked it. One of these days, I may actually do the whole thing.

Do a keyword search on galleon, or look for Elizabeth's Designs. There is no map, though. Just a galleon and some sea monsters....

I did know that it would be small. I have been doing counted cross stitch for over twenty years. It is just harder to have mistakes on a smaller one. Over one is harder to take out too. This is one that I had in my stash for years and I love it. It has all whole stitches and works well over one, except for part of the mast, which is moved over half a stitch. I wanted it to be very small to hang with a bunch of other small ones on a wall. I have never seen so many mistakes on a chart before. Judy
