Hankerchief to Cross Stitch

Anyone know where I may purchase plain hankerchiefs (even weave) that I could then cross stitch on?

I doubt that you can find any sort of handkerchief that is an evenweave. Ordinary fabrics usually have more weft threads than warp ones. It is only in specialty LNSs that you will find evenweaves. HTH.

As my mind is trying to picture this, any material that you might consider that would be countable would be rather heavy for use as a handkerchief.

I have some old handkerchiefs in silk (closely woven) that are cross stitched. The way to do this, I would think, is with waste canvas on a handkerchief- weight cloth.

Actually, let me see if I can find the makers name of some menswear hankies I found. They worked great for surface work. And with Dianne's comment about waste fabric, that could work.

That sounds like a good idea. I completely forgot about waste fabric. I've never used it before but I'd be willing to give it a try.

Thanks!
