How much time do you actually stitch?

Traditional Stitching based here in town sells it so I'm OK there. I wanted to buy the yarn for the rug over a period of time to reduce the financial 'hit' and so that got me wondering if I could pick up the colors for the rug while also buying for smaller projects that I wanted to do. Plus I wanted to see how much of an overlap there was in the colors used. I haven't decided which project I'm going to do first. I'd also like to do the 'African Marigold' rug for my bedroom, but that's another spreadsheet. Dora

I was the sorter! LOL

Meant I got to touch nearly every skein of Appleton's and disparage some of their color names.

As to the stitching time - 2-3 hours some days. One thread other days. I am dangerously inconsistent.

But, after having hung some huge orders of Weeks, Sampler Threads, Crescent, and Thread Gatherer stuff - you don't even want to ask me....At least now I can say that Victorian Pink in GAST is amazingly similar to Orangena in Crescent . And darn it, GAST added some colors - so I had to move allllll the skeins. Crescent did it to us a couple of weeks ago. Sadly, my brain is now way too full of "interesting" color names - and I can safely say the Dried Thyme in GAST bears no resemblance to Dried Thyme in WDW. Same with Adobe.

Arent't we all.....

Too funny. I used to love looking at the racks of floss at Colonial. The colors just wowed me. But I never would have thought that a "pink" (Victorian Pink) would look like an orange drink.

So folks - what is your favorite color name?

I have Cheryl Chic from Crescent colors, but I think my top favorite color name is Blueberry Grunt (Six Strand Sweets)..

I'll have to think about my favorite silly one, but I do like WDW's Bethlehem. It really reflects the The colors in it - very evocative of a dark night and rich jewel tones of the magi's robes. . .

That is a pretty one. I forgot my other favorite "odd" name Scuppernong from WDW

I remember my little Knitting Nancy from way many years ago. 1957, I think. It had a cute little face painted on it and it was wooden. I don't know where it went. Deb

Which is a really great green. Great job, sitting around thinking of these names. I also like, "purple haze" & ""bluecoat red" from WDW - for names, and they're good colors. Crescent has "Frozen Margarita" & Sach Black for some interesting names. I think their names tend to be more whimsical than the others.

WDW has the most accurate color names, I usually can get a sense of the color from the name alone.

Agreed, after all "steamed broccoli" is a color.... Their names either make me hungry or want to go outside.

LOL! On one of the BOAF seasons, you use a *ton* of Scuppernong - it is now among my least favorite greens!

I like Purple Haze as well - and Merlin too Linda

Oh my, that is nearly as bad as puce (color a flea full of blood). I know a lot of them are now PC.... But then again, I was standing a bird store (Wild Birds) when some one went ape sh*t over the seed labeled 'niger' (aka thistle) seed....

So - what color is "dead spaniard". C

There was a hullabaloo some years back when, in a meeting, a man used the word "niggardly" to describe whatever budget issue he was talking about and you'd'a thought the world blew up.

for thistles, they are the bane of my existence right now.

AFAIK, they just play for fun in his basement, but I think they're working on building a repertoire with the eventual goal of playing out.
