Martha Stewart's poncho

Does anyone know where I can find the instructions to crochet the poncho that Martha Stewart wore when she was released from prison?

The media named it "camp cup cake" mockingly because it was where the Diva of Homemaking was to be going. Prisons are designed in ways which accommodate the type of criminal and crime. I don't believe Martha was in a maximum security prison. Either way, her net worth went back to over a billion dollars and I couldn't be happier for her and her family.

You have no control over your life, you have no privacy, your toilet is right in your cell with your bunk, you have to ask an officer for another roll of toilet paper or a sanitary napkin if you run out. Not my idea of relaxing.

Correct and I believe it must be far harder for someone who had mucho control over their life.

I get upset at women dissing Martha. She is very successful so why would other women try to bring her down? We should be urging her onwards. Show me men who diss successful men ! You can't ? Therein lies something you should think long and hard about.

I agree .. she's one smart cookie and deserves her wealth - no one becomes a million - or billion - aire .. by tiptoeing round people. You have to demand perfection .. she did and she made it. One thing I always liked about Martha was the fact that she DID everything - she didn't stand back with her hands in the air, no matter if she was digging in dirt or making hamburgers. Go Martha!!!

I saw it all the time at work - maybe not on the Donald Trump level successful, but it happened.

Exactly. There is such a double standard in our country about this. I can't wait to see the men of Enron put into prison, forced to wash floors with toothbrushes. Those guys stole millions of dollars from people's retirement plans.

Martha sold 50,000 dollars worth of stock out of her billion dollar empire. I couldn't be convinced now, yesterday, or tomorrow that she did that trade to avoid losing chump change.

Seems everyone has an opinion about Martha. I must admit that I am rather conflicted over the whole thing. I know she broke the law but, honestly, I can't help but admire her for building an empire in the business world. aeromom

It should not be overlooked that Martha Stewart was never indicted, let alone convicted, of illegal stock trading. She was convicted for lying about what she did. There is a very big difference.

Put me in federal prison right now because I'm positive I lie.

She was found guilty of lying about a telephone conversation. She was not found guilty of the other charges such as insider trading.

Nevertheless, MS was found guilty of lying about that telephone call and that is what she was sentenced for. The rest of the charges, far more serious in nature, did not hold water.

Yes, based on the testimony of someone who, before the evidence went to the jury told the court he lied about that phone call. The judge refused to instruct the jury to ignore that testimony. Either way, she did her time in jail, not a country club, and I hope her life gets back to normal.

After going through the archives and scanning the 'discussion' of prison conditions, I only found *ONE* actual answer to this question.

I did find a place where, if you buy their yarn, they send you the a pattern based on said poncho for free, but only if you are in US or Canada (seems they don't ship outside the North American continent :( )

You can find free instructions on the Lion Brand Website, the Bernat Website, Mary Maxim and although I haven't seen it someone said there is a kit available from Herrschners.

You're right, I don't know that she broke the law, just that she was convicted. I never figured out why we were safer with Martha behind bars. Hey, maybe I'm not as conflicted over this as I thought I was. aeromom

This whole place seems silly...America, I mean, not the newsgroup. Well, the newsgroup too, but not for this purpose at this time of this statement. LOL. I have a neighbor who beats the crap out of his wife about every two months. Two cop cars, an ambulance, and an entire block of guarded neighbors fear what this guy may do. He has never once been in jail. Oh well. We have our priorities. Hate people who make it big in an honest way. Yeah, that sounds more intelligent.
