I've scanned through retail version of the needlework show and some a few new to me things and designers.
I know this will appeal to some on in this group (Oh Linda)

Oh - which ones
I just spotted her "apple" charts and kind of like them. But have no place to put them.

I ordered All We Are Saying (give peace a chance), Rules, and Delay (don't delay joy), and will, I hope, get Grunt as a freebie. (I love pigs. They come in more varieties than ladybugs, and some of them do fly)

On a completely different note, I have seen pieces done by Tanja Berlin of peoples dogs and cats, you give her the pic and she does a portrait, single thread long and short. They are beautiful and the likeness is stunning, so all one needs is a good pic that catches the essence of your pet.
I have a few Monsterbubbles, including Delay. And pigs can be very cute. DD is currently into penguins

I have taken two courses with her and she always has some of them to exhibit, pics don't do them justice. You feel you could run your fingers through their fur. I love the pug too.
Long and short ? Just a question of doing it and doing it and then something 'clicks' - I can actually quite enjoy it now whereas I used to look at crewel patterns and pick the one with the least long and short lol
