I for one would much rather see bears than cows, or the cars they are doing in Detroit. Of course I looked at a couple and thought about how much fun it would be to do the design in some sort of needlework. And it didn't take the whole morning, just part of it. In Baltimore, we currently have large decorated crabs placed throughout the city. It's like a bit of serendipity when driving around town and you see one of the sculptures! I've seen about four so far. The pictures don't appear to be on the web yet, but anyone interested can look at

to see an overview of the project. (and check back later for photos.)
There was a similar project with fish four years ago and it was great fun. What a brilliant way to raise funds for good causes - it's a win/win all around.
Here in Halifax, NS they have LARGE lobsters that have be painted/decorated by local artists. I haven't seen any but business have located them through out the city. They too will be auctioned off to raise money for charity at the end of the summer. I'm waiting to hear that one or more of them have been kidnapped! :) You can see some of them here.
ALIVE!!! Yep, I'm doing the best that I can with what I got left - rattlin but I'm rollin.
My favorite bears are the one's named, Bearister (painted like a lawyer dressed for a court appearance) and Biker Bear (bear on a chopper type motorcycle). Interesting enough the Bearister and Biker bears were placed very close to our law courts building.
