OFF TOPIC and scary

In all honesty I'm whining because DH flew off to a conference in sunny Texas early on the morning of my birthday and left me behind with a sick DD. Every night since I've had to hear his reports of what fun they've had (his parents are there also), the great food they've eaten (I've been stuck with leftovers), and how many old friends he's seen. He was so absent-minded when he left, he forgot to set out my birthday card and I had to go dig it out of his dresser drawer. He owes me BIG TIME!
Do you find that most of the other moms are just too young for words. There are days that I want to scream when listening to them.

And well you should whine! He owes you a great dinner out and one free stash pass with no complaints allowed.

Ahh Cheryl,
I know how you feel. The date seems sooo far off but will be here before you know it. My son will be a senior next year and sometimes I look at him and wonder where my baby went. He once fit in one hand and now is 6 foot 2. As a matter of fact, he was just given his own set of car keys last week. Now that is scary!
Once about 3 years ago, I came upstairs from doing laundry, and not aware that he had come home from school, saw this man in my kitchen in my fridge - was about to scream - and realized it was my son.

Oh ya! I look at his recent hockey photos and realize, even at 13, this is a man, not a boy. At 5'9"+, he already adult sized.
The driving part can wait as long a possible, I want to be able to sleep.

I just got this from a friend of mine and thought it was so appropriate for this thread on aging: Enjoy!!
IF MY BODY WERE A CAR
If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull, but that's not the worst of it. My fenders are too wide to be considered stylish. They were once as sleek as a little MG; now they look more like an old Buick. My seat cushions have split open at the seams. My seats are sagging. Seat belts? I gave up all belts when Krispy Kreme opened a shop in my neighborhood! Air bag's? Forget it. The only bags I have these days are under my eyes. Not counting the saddlebags, of course. I have soooooo many miles on my odometer. Sure, I've been many places and seen many things, but when's the last time an appraiser factored life experiences against depreciation? My headlights are out of focus and it's especially hard to see things up close. My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather. My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins. It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently. But here's the worst of it -almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter..... either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires.

Guess you'll just have to drink it through a hose! :)

I wish but first I have to make it. As it turns out, I don't think it did have anything to do with lifting the carboy, it might be the crazy weather we are having, who knows ?
14C the middle of January! Crazy eh? The bulbs are sprouting and I've heard that even the hibernating animals are getting confused! Hopefully it will cool soon and we'll have a good stretch of winter weather! We really need some snow even though we growl about it.

Over a very, very long straw!
I agree with your Dad in some ways, but would give an age range rather than just 35. One of the perks of growing old as a man is that you appreciate women of a much woder age range. An 18 year old male only sees girls. But a
60+ year old man appreciates all women from 16 to 66. I also think that we look for more than outer beauty. We look for sparkle and sass. And no plastic.George
One of my physics professors used to say he knew the day he was getting older was the day he realized the mothers were more attractive to him then the daughters.

Actually, the driving part should be celebrated as Mum's Liberation Day. It is such a blessing not to have to plan your morning, afternoon and evening around a route map, and spend so much free time in the car. The day one kid could give the other kid a lift to school my stress level went down unbelievably, as DH and kid spent every school morning yelling and arguing with each other when he was the driver. As a bonus, my kids were both so keen on driving when they were learning that for a while I got the car started, warmed, and pulled up to the church door any time I wanted. Dawne
