OFF Topic - don't try this one folks

Every morning, DD and I have been headed off to the garden for about an hour, doing some of the heavy work of pruning dead branches and such. Needless to say, I am getting sore, especially from using the pole saw. Well, yesterday, I grabbed the capsicum based cream and rubbed in to an especially sore left upper arm and went out to work. Do you know what happens when you mix sweat and capsicum creams?

It burns - not to leave red marks, but oh brother did it burn. Funny thing, that sore muscle is still fine today!

Off to the garden. I got more of my gardening ladybugs done this morning before any one else was up and going!

Cheryl, be very very careful not to touch any mucus membranes when the capsaisin's on you. I had an extemely uncomfortable experience once after DH used it on his back. Sweat will make it migrate, and that's all the TMI you're going to get out of me!

I was reading a Sandy Koufax biography a couple months ago, and the trainer who used to put the cream on him learned to wear plastic gloves to do it, because otherwise "his wife wouldn't let him sleep with his hands under the covers".

I've mastered the art of using the tube to apply it and the edges of the spout to rub it in (sorta). I cover my knee with an old tube sock (foot cut off), which will never see the laundry, because the same book warned what happened when Koufax's clothes were washed with other players'.

I know that pain! once scratched my nose after chopping jalapeños. I don't want to think about having it elsewhere!

Along this line - I got poison ivy on a backpacking trip - had to use the "facilities" and didn't look carefully enough. So now my Girl Scout troop, whenever we go hiking, has as their motto "Leaves of three, don't dare pee!"

I think the newer creams have less of the oils in them. I just wish the stuff worked on shin splints!

LOLOLOL - the mind boggles! DH strained a muscle in his thigh, many years ago, and the Algipan he rubbed in ended up in a very tender place! He was in agony for hours and the air was BLUE!
