I think my few remaining brain cells would have garbled "buttered toast" into "tuttered boast". Reminds me of a spoonerism which is now a family joke - "teasted toecake". Bruce

All yummers, although peanutbutter/honey toast is better than a sandwich, and peanut butter /banana sandwiches with mashed bananas are unpleasant.

My dad used to like a piece of Swedish flatbread with raspberry jam (no other flavour) topped with old Cheddar. I got to have it as a special middle of the night treat sometimes, so still eat it. The Cheddar and fruitcake sounds like something I might actually do.
Dawne, who thinks your supper sounds all right!
Something I am very interested in. Mirjam, what are the no smoking restrictions in Israel; both indoors and outdoors? For example, are you allowed to smoke in a private automobile if there are children in the car? TIA Jim.
I'm coming to your house Bruce. Sounds heavenly
Try peanut butter and bacon - the rashers cooked to just crispy.

Sunflower seeds, in the shell/hull are a snack item. Hulled, I like on salad too.
Cheryl
I could do that - with the right fruit cake.

Reminds me of a fave from DH's Russian great-aunt Vera. Brekkie at her house was invariably toasted English muffin, thick slice of cold tomato, slice of extra-sharp cheddar, topped by a thin slice of cold leftover roast beef. I still do this when we get good fresh tomatoes in the summer, but minus the roast beast.

(shudder)
I like liverwurst, but not fried liver. My mom used to make it with onions and bacon every time I went to the doctor, because I was usually mildly anemic (like one meal of liver would restore my blood count!) For some reason we called it "Boston steak" - I have no idea where that appellation came from or whether it was strictly a family thing or had some historic basis outside the family. No matter how much ketchup I used to drown it in, I still gagged on every piece.

We all liked liver except for my son. For years we had "Beef Slices" because the girls knew if he knew what it was he would not eat it, which probably meant I would cook it less often.
On the subject of liver, I don't care for beef liver, only calf and lamb and even then, it needs to be cooked carefully and not at a high temperature and not cooked until overdone or it is hateful.
Maybe I could send you some of our Old Dutch dill pickle chips...they're *reeeeaaaallllly* dilly! Makes my mouth water just thinking of them! Oh, and Pringles is now making dp chips, too. You might want to check for those, since I know you can get those there. Old Dutch is a local brand and they're really good chips. My sisters and best friend always stock up when they're here. Let me know....

Now, peanut butter and bacon sandwiches are fine, with or without butter. Wanted some the other day when we had bacon, but didn't have any white bread to put it on, and I don't really fancy it on 15-grain bread.

Sue your post has made me wonder: doesn't everybody eat cheese and tomato sandwiches? C&T is a staple over here. Queen of Sandwiches: C&T! In fact, it's what I have for lunch most days, along with a big glass of nice cold milk. If bread's running low, I'll have C&T on crackers with lots of salt and pepper, sometimes substituting cottage cheese for tasty, as I'm quite partial to cottage cheese.
Or, grilled C&T on toast! You put your slice of cheese on top of the toast, then sliced tomato on top of that. Grill it till the tomato starts to bubble and yummo!
Some philistines like to add ham to the C&T, but IMHO that just spoils the Queen of Sangers. Of course, garden fresh tomatoes are best to use, not the sad apologies that come from the supermarkets these days.
NOOOOOOOOooooooo! P'nut butter is meant to be eaten alone! Alone, I tell you! =:-O
Cheese & tomato sandwiches made with fresh, home-baked bread, home-grown tomato and strong, mature Caerphilly cheese - delicious. Almost as tasty as Welsh Rarebit!
Oh please do
And I'll skip the Pringles. I think they taste like cardboard.
Cheryl
It really works on wheat bread and maybe certain multigrain ones as well, but I'm with you on the 15 grain.
Try it on rye bread (with the caraway seeds) - you'll either love it or hate it, but I happen to love it.
Cheryl
Oh, but we do. Or fresh tomatoes with just the barest hint of mayo. And, I should go inspect the tomatoes, I saw the beginnings of fruits the other day.
Cheryl
One of our favorites is grilled cheese with tomato, using frozen "Texas toast" garlic bread (sliced in half while frozen), with some oregano and garlic sprinkled on the tomato. Yummmm.....
(Okay. Now I know what's for lunch today!)
