Borders on tacky in my book, but kind of funny too. Several places in Manchester serve poutine.
OFF TOPIC - for the Canadians among us

Ooh la la - heard about that !
Talking of Poutine a television moment played and replayed up here is the one where one of our comedians asked GWB was he going to call Prime Minister Poutine of Canada - GWB had just been elected for the first time, and he affirmed he would.
Well, I think it's funny. I think the guy who got upset is taking it waaaaay too seriously.

I would have liked to see the picture. As a Western Canadian, I demand equal time, and insist the picture next year feature one of our founders, say, Gabriel Dumont or Tommy Douglas, and a bag of spits.

Spits????

Saskatchewanian--and maybe Western Canadian--for sunflower seeds. ya take a bag of spits to the football game, and, um, well, spit.

Ecchhhh! Makes chewing tobacco seem almost acceptable Bruce
Nope, chewing tobacco leaves slimy, brown clumps of stuff. At least the sunflower seeds only have compostable leavings.
Forgot to add, sunflower seeds also beat chewing gum. Over here people spit it out when entering a building and the sidewalk is peppered with these revolting blobs which need a high pressure, steam cleaner to remove them.
If they forget themselves they will frequently stick it under the table or the chair, never put your hands there by accident.
Ah, salted or unsalted?
I was originally told to chew and swallow the entire, well chewed seed. "It is good for the inner workings of your body."
Cheryl
Nah - both are organic and will compost. But the tobacco, even chewed or smoked, can carry tobacco mosaic virus. Very bad for your tomatoes. And the hulls of the sun flowers can retard the growth of certain other plants.

Spitting _anything_ out in public is a revolting, unhygienic, uncivilised habit. Bruce

Bruce, I hate to diminish my fellow Saskatchewanians further in your estimation, but I live among people who wear watermelons on their heads at football games. A realllllly refined person chugs down her beer first and uses the empty plastic beer cup to spit the sunflower seed shells into.

Salted, salt and vinegar, all dressed, dill pickle..............

Yet another item to add the long list of "reasons why we don't attend public events (particularly events involving sport)" Bruce
There's a thought, a thoughtful football fan
Dill pickle? Hmm, sounds interesting. I happen to love dill pickle potato chips, when I can find them.

I'd prefer the dill pickle itself, chips (crisps in the UK) are always a disappointing taste - more of a chemical factory than a food. Because of the way flavours are derived beef flavoured crisps are OK for vegetarians but cheese & onion flavoured crisps are not OK for vegetarians! Dill pickle & pickled onions always remind me of the fish 'n chip shops of my youth, always pickled onions to go with your fish, chips & mushy peas to "eat now" or to "take out". Almost as delicious as carling peas or tripe & onions in milk. My word, that's made me feel rather hungry, I must go and find something to nibble! Bruce
I have to admit that I'm thinking hard about chips and pickles for lunch

I've got some bologna and a jar of dills in the fridge, and chips in the pantry. Come on over and I'll make us a couple of sandwiches.
Isn't it obvious I don't always eat the healthiest diet?
