The world is a strange place - we all know that already, but, this morning took the cake.
I drove up to the dealer to get an oil change, no biggie, do it every few months. Usually I sit in the "kiddie waiting room" because it is empty, but not today; it is full of kids, including one that announces, he's grumpy. LOUDLY.
Ok - into the main waiting room. Full of guys - ok - I can deal, especially when I can turn off the TV. I don't do "daytime reality" and no one wants the news. People come, people go. I know I have about a 90 minute wait, so I have stitching and a good book in my tote.
Then - they walk in. 4 guys, some what coated in concrete dust, and sprawl all over the room and they are louder than the grumpy kid up the hall.
And all their Nextel phones keep ringing. And ringing.
One boy, doesn't really appear to be much over 25, attempts to start a conversation. He's interested in my stitching. (sure he is ) Finally figures out that I am just a bit older than I look and backs off some. Elderly couple walks in, I offer to move so they can sit together. One of guys has the grace to look embarrassed at his cohorts; given the number and type of calls, I figure he's the boss.
Then my conversationalist starts telling his buddy who is sitting across the room about his agent. He's a wannabe actor; his agent sent him to go audition for a roll in a p*rn film. "Do you know how much they pay for p*rn films Vinnie, a lot better than that ad I did last month Vinnie." and so on! Finally, his boss tells him to shut up. Meanwhile, the elderly couple is turning funny shades and I have my book in front of my face, 'cause I'm going to lose it any second.
