I like Oxyclean as if it doesn't work, it doesn't seem to set the stain. I first used it on a years old stain, which probably had been coffee, and it came right out. I was dumbfounded. Worth a try.

A friend has brand new carpeting in sort of an oatmeal color, on which someone spilled a whole cup of coffee, which has made a terrible stain. Obvious question, how to get it out. And no, thank heavens, it wasn't I that spilled it.

Will SARD soap do it?or OxiClean? or that Mr. Clean sponge? I certainly don't want to damage the carpeting, but the stain is really ugly.

I recently had the same thing happen to me on a beige tweed nylon frieze carpet. One difference, I was the one to spill the coffee.

Oxyclean didn't work for me, nor did anything else I tried, so I went directly to the store I bought the carpet in. They gave me something called R2X Stain & Soil Remover that is distributed by a carpet company called Shaw. It worked beautifully and the stain came out.

They gave me a small bottle to try and it was enough to get my stain out but I believe it is available for retail purchase somewhere because it has the Good Housekeeping Seal on the label with a note saying for additional information call 1-877-209-7309--Shaw Industries, Dalton, GA

Thank you, ladies. I knew this was the place to get the real answers.

The best I have found is a product called Capture. There is a dry cleaning kit availble from Home Depot and i would imagine from other places as well. I was told about it by a friend who owns a large carpet store.

Before they try anything - try sodawater. Plain soda water. You'd be amazed what it gets out that even OxiClean and some of the top cleaners don't managed to get out. I have an aunt who gave up having her carpets professionally cleaned and now invests in bottles of sodawater instead. Even drags large area rugs outside to clean them that way.

I've used it to get out pet stains and ancient coffee stains from older rugs.

Good luck to them !

We had the same problem when my hubby's uncle spilled the coffee in the beige seat of our rented car. My brother in law gave my hubby an Orange Glo or Fantastic orange something and the stain disappear right before our own very eyes!
