Now, now, Sheena. It's all relative. You know very well there are a lot of maritimers now in western Canada (a lot of which technically speaking is central Canada) because they need the employment. You can't go anywhere without tripping over one of them. Mind you, it looks like a lot of them voted Conservative, so perhaps they've been disowned (?) Dora

Hee hee - you noticed the Maritimes did not buy into it ? He's not yet been forgiven for referring to us as 'the culture of defeat' - this time round he was full of the fact he actually came from NB - yeah right. He should have about two years before he is toppled, I shall watch with interest, he's going to feel the heat of the muzzled candidates in Alberta. We live in interesting times.

couple of years. This government might run a bit longer than most minority government. I'm glad PM is stepping down now, and gracefully. He's a likable man, even if he is a liberal and this election was not kind to him.

I think PM had to wear Chretiens sins, I read that Mrs M takes it very badly when she hears her husband called corrupt and I can understand that. He is really sort of a dull, accountant type of man I find.

If it wasn't Harper, I would be entirely happy to see a Western PM, I voted for JC in my time.

Do you really believe that our soon to be Past Prime Minister knew nothing about the sponsorship scandal??? I find that pretty hard to believe. He was Finance Minister, it was his job to know.

For sure he knew but it did happen on Chretiens watch. To say he is corrupt if nothing has happened on his watch, is unfair. However, that said, he is tarred with the same brush, probably (like all of them) did things he should not have.

In due course we will undoubtedly discover Harper has done that which he ought not to have done. There is very little integrity left in politics. Last honest man I can think of was Eric Neilsen from the NWT, he even managed to silence Trudeau in the house.

Many of them are wingnuts for only 5% of the time. Unfortunately, that

PPMPM (past prime minister paul martin) inherited a loser of a situation. His options were to be judged as corrupt or incompetent. I suspect he didn't know. But that would mean it was kept from him, and that implies the staffers were crooked. All the more reason for some house cleaning.

I don't think Harper is bad as you think. However, the proof will be in the pudding, and with a minority government, fewer people are likely to choke on it.

What I found interesting about this election were the leaks from the Liberal party. That would not have happened under JC. Call it party discipline, or call it muzzling, there was a break down somewhere. Dora

I think that is because they are a house divided with so many warring factions. They need to find a leader who can lead and bind.

Sorry, but this is one expression that really bugs me. "The proof" is not in the "pudding". The original expression is "The proof of the pudding, is in the eating". That way it makes sense, where "proof" means "test".

Well, the guy in my riding I voted for won (he took over from Ed Broadbent). The only NDP person in a sea of Conservatives in our city. Heck across the river on what was normally a Liberal area of Quebec, (one of the few) went Bloc.

So now we watch things change here in Ottawa...heck the news even showed Mr. Harper delivering his kids to school. He shook their hands and sent them in...can you imagine that? Shaking hands with the kids...(they're elementary school aged). Sheesh...to hell with the media...give them a hug at least!

I saw that and couldn't believe my eyes!!! Reminded me of a shot, often shown, of Prince Charles greeting his mother who had been on a long Commonwealth trip by sea in those days, shaking her hand after she got off the train.
