OT: Daftest Senior Moment?

Jan 14, 2006 48 Replies

Pat, I think it's that putting a colon in the subject line thing in Outlook Express: it strips out whatever is before the colon, and replace it with "Re" by default when you hit Reply. I usually try to remember to put OT followed by two spaces, or else spell out OFF TOPIC.

Thanks, Carey - I must say that that sounds familiar - I`ll try to remember!

One of the ex's employees had trained to be a locksmith and still had the tools. He was a lifesaver for many of his friends.

I tore the bathroom apart because I couldn't find my partial and had to go around semi-toothless. Three days later, it magically appeared in my toothbrush cup.

My latest goof was putting all my bills and filing and other stuff in neat piles on my desktop and then losing my checkbook. After an hour of looking in every conceivable place I gave up.

The next morning, when I went to the pantry to get some dogfood for Puff, guess what I found sitting on top of some canned goods?

It's a good thing I needed dogfood or it might have sat there for a week.

tried to change the tv channel one night with the cordless phone, or was it the calculator? Hey, they all look alike....

Heck! I know that feeling. At my parents' house there are multiple black remotes, all basically the same. One for the stereo, one for the TV, one for the cable box and one for the DVD player. I've offered to get them an all-in-one remote, but

"It is easier this way"

HUH!

BTDT. On more occasions than I care to count, I have torn the house apart looking for something, finally gave up and bought a new one, only to have the original turn up somewhere that I know it wasn't.

I recently misplaced an important book. Since I could get a used copy for pennies, I bought another copy, and swore that the original would soon turn up in the middle of the bathtub, or bone-dry in the dishwasher, something that had been used since I started looking for it, where I knew it couldn't possibly have been when I looked.

Sure enough, a couple days after the replacement arrived in the mail, the original showed up in a place that I had looked repeatedly.

Ghosts, I tell you!

You're lucky the checkbook got misplaced (since you can always start another book of checks) -- around here, the cleaning people like to lose the bills. I found one throwing them in the trash. Another saw three piles of papers, decided that looked messy, and put them all in one box, then threw something else on top of the box to hide it, so I didn't find them till I owed late fees on every bill.

When I go for my next Disability hearing in a couple weeks, I will need to ask the judge what is the point of my hiring a cleaning lady to "prove to him that I am disabled", if I then have to spend more time and energy looking for the bills she hid, than I would have to simply do the cleaning myself?

I'm sure it is. XH bought an all-in-one, and after spending a couple hours on the project, couldn't figure out how to program it. He delegated to me and my FCC license. Step one, push this button and a menu will appear on your TV screen. No, it didn't. I changed the batteries, still no menu. Took the batteries out, tested them, verified they were at 100% strength, put them back in, still no menu. Walked right up to the TV, put the remote right up to the remote sensor, still no menu.

Since I was perfectly happy with the existing collection of remotes --

*my* fingers weren't too pudgy to work the tiny buttons -- I wasn't going to spend more time on the project.

Or tried to answer the remote control?

Sounds like he bought a non-compatible one! I know to check that first ;) want to know why?

one of my moments...

my new computer can take tv reception. Was trying it out for the first time, couldn't get it to connect (was the same diameter as the jack for the computer). After phoning, sweating and sending pictures to support it suddenly dawned on me: I had taken the antenna out of the wall and tried to connect it to the computer, instead of from the tv. DUH!

We learned the same lesson. DD bought DH an all-in-one remote for Christmas and it didn't work. Thankfully she could return it for a refund.

The milk should not be a problem for the plant. It's just water with a little fertilizar thrown in. In fact, people who grow amazinly large pumkins sometimes use gallons of milk to fertilize the plants.

George

I've heard of that. A local grower swore by sour milk. Wouldn't want to live near him when the weather is hot!

Cheryl

Actually, blow the Amaryllis,( which, by the way has grown 6 inches since I did it!) - I was more concerned with it stinking of sour milk! LOL!

My brother adds powdered milk to the soil around his tomato plants to prevent blossom end rot...or something similar to that!
