When I worked in the Haematology Dept of our local hospital in England, the expired blood from the blood bank was greatly lusted after! It was great for sprinkling around the roots of the tomato plants.
Now, I am connecting the dots. I wonder if that is why I can't stand raw tomatoes??

Hmmmmm....I don't think I'll pass along that tidbit! I enjoy sharing his abundant crop of tomatoes each year!

Back when I was still growing tomatoes, I used to put crushed eggshells (rinsed well and membranes removed) around my plants...same reason. Lee Ann

Karen, Hubby & I are both mixed-blood Native American and when we lose something, we blame it on "The Little People". They have different names depending on culture, some call them Fairies, for instance. When I'm missing something, and have torn the house apart looking for it, sometimes for days, I'll ask outloud for them to please put (object) back where I can find it, I *really* need it. It works, I "find" it soon, and, as you said, somewhere I've not only looked 15 times, but where I'd never put it to begin with! I always thank them afterwards. I'd look like a nutcase (my neighbors are getting used to it, and I'm getting used to their facial expressions) but it works for me.....sometimes. There are always things that disapear into a black hole somewhere and are never seen again. Lee Ann

Are you sure that some of your other blood isn`t Irish, Karen? "The Little People" (Leprechauns) are a famous part of Irish folklore!
Another similarity - friends of ours lived in a five hundred year-old cottage, and they knew there was a ghost there - they used to hear her giggling on the stairs, and when they held a seance, they found that it was a fourteen year-old girl called Felicity.
The similarity was that "Felicity" used to hide things - which would reappear in the place in which they had originally been - weeks or even months later! Our friends were two elderly ladies with no children to blame. Both had been in the medical profession, so were pretty sensible and down to earth.
We were there one day when the door to the stairs suddenly opened and closed again. "Oh - it`s only Felicity on the stairs again!" said Blanche.

This subject reminds me of that old chestnut:-
"What do you put on your Rhubarb?"
"Horse muck"
"Oh - I prefer custard!"

Pat, I was the one that made the post about the Little People. I'm not Irish that I know of, but I am Scottish on my Dad's side and English on my Mom's.
My Mother died in the house where I grew up, and once in awhile, I'd be in a room alone and hear my name called. Never more than my name, but always the same voice, the same tone, same everything. I was 5 when Mom died (accidental overdose) so don't really remember her voice or what she looked like. Lee Ann

I` had a Scottish grandmother on my father`s side , and my grandmother on my mother`s side (plus three of her sisters) were all mediums. What a beautiful poignant story - I bet it WAS your Mother, just keeping an eye on your welfare. What a lovely thought.
We had a "spirit person" at our old cottage - she used to live there early last century - she was perfectly welcome, as far as we were concerned - although she did startle us from time to time. Some of our friends experienced her too,
I`m more a believer in the "Stone Tapes" theory - you know, the fabric of buildings absorb things that have happened there, and "play" them back to anyone who is tuned in.

Exactly. I KNOW I won't live long enough to program and work an all-in-one, so I would not spend a red cent on it. If they'd only stop using black buttons on black bases with deep gray lettering.....is that part of a conspiracy or something?
