On some channels. Channel 3 is cognizant of the fact that this is the state capital, so they cover politics in depth, and hit on the major news stories from other parts of the state, too, so the legislators know what's going on at home. Ergo, I watch Channel 3.
But occasionally, when there's some major event going on that pre-empts their news, I'll wind up with one of the other channels, and, yeah, it's like watching two people gossip. They have some insipid slogan that equates to "warm-and-fuzzy" news, but I call it vapid and newsless. The whole state is on fire, and having given you 5 seconds on that, we're now going to tell you who's pregnant in Hollywood, which musician is in rehab, and then do a 5-minute human interest story on the little girl who got lost in the grocery store and "was miraculously found!!!!!!!" (um, how many of us did not get lost in the grocery when we were kids, and we were all found ... no miracle, just go down the cookie aisle, or maybe she's in front of the ice cream, depending on what your kid likes most). I'm sorry, am I watching the 6 PM news or Hollywood Insider?
